Dave Burd
Co-Founder, Innovator, Creator
Influenced at a young age by reading of the Wright Brothers, Rachel Carson, and Thoreau’s Walden, Dave’s career is a blend of innovative technology and appreciation of the natural world, striving to put the medical field’s axiom of “first, do no harm” into action regarding society’s energy consumption and its relationship to our overall well-being.
His 20+ year career accomplishments include design and development of solar panels and compact fluorescent lighting systems (patents applied for and granted in each instance), equipment design for one of the nations’ foremost mass transit systems, implementation of one of the nation’s first municipal recycling programs, promoting adoption of fluorescent lighting for a large metropolitan area public utility and conducting energy conservation seminars on behalf of the National Park Service.
Dave consults with a broad spectrum of clients on viable approaches to achieve environmental responsibility and intellectual property (patents). Much of Dave’s career has been ‘hands on’, creating and implementing technology while concurrently tailoring sustainable solutions, taking the approach that spectacular improvement usually comes from integrating the diverse factors of modern living.
Dave’s alma mater, Northwestern University was one of the nation’s first to introduce the Astronautical Sciences degree. Dave was a member of their inaugural Astronautical Sciences graduating class.
